Department of Hematology, University Hospital Dijkzigt, Rotterdam, The Netherlands The clinical course of a case of primary thrombocythemia is described, complicated by a variety of recurrent and sequential thrombotic manifestations, involving the peripheral as well as the cerebrovascular and coronary microvasculature, demonstrating that throm bocythemia should be considered as an important risk factor for thrombosis, already at platelet count states in excess of 400 x 109/L.
