Department of Nuclear Medicine, Concord Hospital While rare, mycotic aneurysms of the aorta have a high mortality rate from immediate rupture and late complications. The case of a patient with a ruptured mycotic aneurysm is presented, and the important role of scintigraphic studies in the early detection of complicating extensive soft-tissue infection and osteomyelitis is demonstrated.
