Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, St. Louis, Missouri A patient being treated with amiodarone experienced acute respiratory failure and death immediately following pulmonary angiography. Physicians must be aware of the potential catastrophic complication of both ionic and nonionic contrast angiography in this setting.
