University of North Dakota School of Medicine, Grand Forks, North Dakota The occurrence of total occlusion of the left main coronary artery (LMCA) is rare. Prognosis with complete LMCA occlusion is generally considered poor and essentially depends on the rate of obstruction and the extent of collateral circulation.
