In 4 placebo-controlled double-blind studies of patients suffering from venous insufficiency—defined as the presence of varicose veins combined with a range of subjective symptoms and presence of venous ulcers—flunar— izine was statistically significantly superior to placebo in improving symptom atology, reducing the circumference of swollen lower legs and ankles, and increasing the speed of healing of venous ulcers. No side-effects were noted.
